Participating in Books of Hope can be a meaningful and transformative experience for you and your students. It's an ideal way to incorporate service into your curriculum while also helping you meet your academic standards.

Whether you teach reading or science, math or social studies, Books of Hope is a great fit. Since the children at your sponsored school study many of the same subject areas that American students do, books with specific, accurate educational content can help provide instructional materials for their classrooms. You can incorporate the project into practically any unit at any level of schooling.

And what better way for your students to learn a subject than to teach about it through writing a book?

Schools and organizations participate in Books of Hope by registering for the program and being matched with a school in either Uganda or India (your choice). Students write, illustrate and bind books that will then be delivered to their sponsored school. They also have the option of collecting donations or donated books to send abroad. In exchange, teachers will receive instructional resources to help them facilitate the project and all schools will receive feedback from their sponsored school before the end of the school year.

We ask that all schools and organizations begin the process by registering through our website. We will then send you a link to the Facilitator's Guide and other online resources, and an introductory DVD to help you get started.

We cannot accept books without pre-registration.

Thank you and we look forward to having you involved!
